Users can expect performance levels to be similar to the Asus Zenfone 5 and its entry-level Snapdragon 400 SoC and even the original Y100 and its MediaTek MT6592 SoC.

The Y100 Pro uses the same OGS technology as the recent iPhones to reduce the thickness of the protective glass.Ĭommon benchmarks like Vellamo, PCMark, and BaseMark place the Y100 Pro at the bottom of the barrel compared to other budget devices. Subjectively, images and text are crisp and appear very close to the surface. Our measured contrast of nearly 900:1 is also quite close to the advertised 1000:1. This is almost as bright as the recently released and much more expensive Huawei Honor 6 Plus. The manufacturer advertises a 450 cd/m2 backlight and we can confirm with our own measurements that the average screen brightness is very close to this value at the maximum setting. We do commend Doogee for offering a very bright backlight. For all intents and purposes, the 2.5D moniker is a marketing term. The screen itself is still flat and planar, unlike on the LG G4c or Galaxy S6 Edge. The feature is largely visual and brings no benefit to display quality. This means that the front glass surface curves down around the edges and corners for a unique look. Screen quality is largely similar to the original Y100 as the big difference is the addition of a 2.5D screen. The nearly bezel-free Sharp Aquos Crystal is still one of the smallest 5-inch smartphones available in this price range.

The dedicated Android inputs at the bottom of the Doogee do make it slightly longer than phones without the dedicated keys, such as the LG G2. The size of the smartphone is again similar to most mainstream 5-inch devices. The creaking we experienced on our original Y100 is nowhere to be found on our Y100 Pro. Overall quality is nonetheless good for the price with no major twisting or depressions. This certainly makes the Y100 Pro look more expensive than it really is even though the removable cover itself is just as susceptible to twists as the regular cover for the Y100.

Instead, the removable plastic back cover is rounder and with a brushed metallic surface to give the appearance of a metal chassis. Doogee also claims a 'metal unibody' for the Pro version, though this is not the same unibody design as normally expected from high-end smartphones. The main difference lies in the 2.5D screen as the Corning Gorilla Glass on the front edges and corners are curved for a more attractive look as explained in our Display section.

Case quality is essentially identical from top to bottom. In fact, the back cover for the Y100 Pro fits perfectly onto the original Y100 and vice versa. The overall design of the Y100 Pro mimics the original Y100 down to port positioning and button layout.
